Dual vCenter Registration

Im currently running vROPS 7.0. Ive started building a brand new 7.5 environment (i.e. not upgrading my existing 7.0 nodes). When adding the vCenter adapter to the new 7.5 environment, I receive the message shown below. If I answer 'yes', will my old 7.0 environment continue to collect data from vCenter? Or will only the 7.5 environment receive vCenter data?

 

Ideally, I want the old 7.0 and new 7.5 environments to run in tandem until Im satisfied with the 7.5 build out (and then Ill shutdown the 7.0).

Guest Operating System - Only a few drives displayed

Creating a dashboard with how full Drives are for both windows and linux servers and it only mentions a couple of both the window drives and linux partitions. If i go to the individual VM it displays all the servers drives but in a dashboard view only a few of them can be viewed. Thoughts?

Network devices adaptor configuration

Hi all,

we have vrealize operation manager but monitoring is limited to nsx enviroment only. I want to extend to cover physical switches (Spine and TOR switches) can any one assist on what are the configuration needed to be done on switch to have them discovered on operation manager, Always fails and tries to connect to switch IP address which don't exist

Deleted and Created VMs for past 4 weeks - dashboard

I have a dashboard summary page which lists number of ESXi hosts, number of running and powered off VMs but i would also like to add VMs that have been deleted and built in the past 4 weeks.

 

Then once that is working go down further and say how many of a specific Operating has been built. Have looked around in vrops to do this but no luck. Anyideas?

Remove vRealize Operations Manager 7.5

Ho do I remove vRealize Operations manager from my 6.7 vCenter? I tried to upgrade to 8.0 and realize it will just be easier to install a new 8.0 appliance.

Do i just take it offline and then delete the appliance? I cant find any documentation on how to do this.

VM - Minecraft EDU with vRealize

Hello,

 

Rolling out a VM running minecraft and want to look at bottlenecks for performance and such..

 

Looking to see if it is possible to look if a non gpu host can handle this what kind of hardware etc would be necessary to run this.

 

Have plenty of cpu/memory and decent storage but not sure about network and graphical resources..

vROPS : 6.6.1 Importing a custom policy fails with the error : Incorrect file uploaded

Hi All

 

Importing a custom policy in VMware vRealize Operations 6.6.1.7160163 (Build 7160163) fails with the error: "Incorrect file uploaded"

 

I manage to upload same custom policy to other vROPs deployment so the policy are OK just something went wrong with that vROPs instance.

 

vROPs logs $ALIVE_BASE/user/log/analytics_UUID.log

 

2019-07-15 13:32:09,921 ERROR [ServerConnection on port 10000 Thread 6642 ] com.vmware.vcops.controller.retriever.PolicyImportExportHandler.importAlertContent - Failed to import alert content, errMsg=Reco

mmended action contains invalid action adapter key

com.vmware.vcops.common.l10n.LocalizedRuntimeException: Failed to import alert content

 

I found KB VMware Knowledge Base looks like same issue but why I can upload same custom policy to other vROPs instance (same version).

 

The resolution in KB will not help as I can't remove whole alertContent

 

Any idea how resolve that problem?

Adapter instance object has error status

Hi All

 

vROPS 6.6.1 and NSX vSphere Adapter 3.5. One of the NSX managers keep showing few times per day standard alert "Adapter instance object has error status", other NSX is ok. NSX manager and vROPS are on same network so network communication should not be the root of the problem. Test connection of that adapter is successful and is reviving data.

 

Any idea how I can troubleshoot that issue, what logs to check on vROPS collector and NSX manager?

Problem with generating reports on vRealieze operation

Hi everyone,

I have problem with generating report on vRealize operation.

I schedule report to run on a specific time and it generate report and everything is fine.

I have configure network share plugin to copy this report to a external ftp server, but when vROP transfers the file to the destination it will be a zero byte file, however in same situation some of reports will be transfered to the external ftp without any problem.

 

Does any one know how can i check related log for network share plugin? or does someone know how to solve the problem?

vROPS 8.0 Creating your own custom Cost Drivers

Is it possible to create your own cost drivers? I'd like to add some some additional cost to my reports, is this possible? for example i'd like to add SQL as a cost driver and be able to put a cost to a particular application.
