Custom Groups -- Policys -- Members

Hello all,

i have an strange issue with custom groups and the associated policys. I have build some groups and different policys to fetch the need of different VM needs.

So far, so good. The group association is build on Folders, that i have created in vSphere. I move the VM´s to that folders as it should.

Now, if i create a group and build the membership criteria, i used Relationship -- Child of -- is -- my folder name

If i click on Preview, i saw all my VM´s as they are in the vSphere folder. But..

If i save the group and click on it, there are not all VM´s showing up under the related objects. For example. I have an folder with 194 VM´s but ony 74 are listed.

I need that to create different policys for different VM´s. Or also to create a view and other stuff.

I have installed the latest version of vRealize. vSphere is running on 5.5 latest patch release.

Any help would be appreciated.

vROPs Custom Policy on Custom Groups not working

$

Hi,

This is what I'm trying to accomplish.  I need to create a custom policy and modify the "Usage Capacity" numbers and then apply the custom policy to a custom group.

What I've done:

1  - Created a custom group with the Compute Resource and Host Systems of my production DRS cluster and hosts.

2 -  Created a custom policy, based of the vSphere Solution's Default Policy, with the "Usage Capacity" settings as I want

3 -  Applied my custom policy to my custom group

I go to my custom group and now see that my custom policy is assigned.  EXPECTED behavior.

HOWEVER, if I go to the cluster, navigating through the vSphere World, the DRS cluster now says it is using my custom policy and NOT the default policy.

What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks!

Widget Interactions - Geo Locations

Hi,

I'm trying to create a custom dashboard that will allow me to pick a DataCenter and then show that on my Geo map. I'm also going to show a Scoreboard for the picked DataCenter.

The interactions are working fine for picking a Datacenter and then showing the scoreboard - but I don't have the option of interacting with the Geo widget - anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks!

Last Successfull Full Inventory

Hi All,

Simple question I'm sure, but I cannot find the answer. Where can I go find when the last successful full inventory/collection took place... and if its wasn't full i.e. partial for whatever reason, why it couldn't do a full collection of data?

Nice one

If vROps integration with Hadoop is something that is relevant to you, Blue Medora's product management team is very interested in talking to you about what aspects of Hadoop integration you like to see surfaced in vROps, which specific aspects of Hadoop your organization most commonly leverages, as well as any specific troubleshooting / diagnostic use cases you have around integration Hadoop-based metric, alert, capacity, and workload placement information into vROps.

This solution will complement the existing Blue Medora's other database/data-tier focused vRealize Operations Management Packs:

vRops 6.3 HA Capacity % Missing

I don't know if any of you are using vRops to capacity plan and to create scenarios but has anyone else noticed that since upgrading to 6.3 the HA % in the capacity remaining on clusters is now 0 (even when enabled in the policy).

If I check the settings I can see that vRops does receive the HA control % but it is still being displayed as 0

Cannot update from vRealize Operations Manager 6.2 to 6.3

I have deployed vRealize Operations Manager 6.2 using an OVF image as VM in my vsphere 6.0 web client. I am trying to upgrade to vRealize Operations Manager 6.3 using vRealize_Operations_Manager-VA-OS-6.3.0.4276417.pak file. I have successfully deployed the pak file by clicking Software Update under Administration Section in admin console section (https://IP_Address/admin). I agreed to the EULA and went through the install wizard. When I log back into vROPs admin interface in the Software Update tab after the update process has completed, I see "vRealize Operations Manager Enterprise OS Update" version "6.3.0.4276417" but when I go to the System Status tab in the admin console I still see Version "6.2.0.3528905". I have restarted the Virtual machine and restarted Master (take offline and bring it online) but I still see the old vrops version "6.2.0.3528905".

Any one come across this error with EPO agents on vROps 6.3?

"Unable to communicate with server -- provider not yet setup. Agent might still be initializing. "

This is the first time I have installed EPO agent which I tried after an upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3.

This is the same on both Linux and Windows VMs.

Under EP Ops Adapter in Inventory Explorer all the collection states are showing as collecting and receiving.

Hello Everybody,

Can anyone help me in vRealize Operation Manager, what is the process of calculating Stress Value%.

Is it the correct metric to calculate Time Remaining for VM CPU/Memory/Disk Utilization in Vrealize Operation Manager.

Please help me which metric i should use to monitor Actual Usage of all VM CPU/Memory/Disk in Vrealize Operation Manager.,

Which metric could be helpful to depict the Utilization of CPU/Memory/Disk historical data in this environment.?

Thanks a lot !!!!

Get an estimate of total network flow in all datacenter

Hi,

we are migrating from an old data center based of rack servers to a new one based on cisco UCS

my current environment is based on isolated ESXI servers, each server contains a specific environment with an internal router and a dedicated physical switch

most of the traffic is flowing inside the ESXI server

i would like to get a estimate of how much network i/O is flowing in the  whole data center  virtual and physical (physical means the traffic going on to the physical nics to the switch)

im running vRealize operations 6.1 ,  i've used the metric under Network I/O / Physical called Usage Rate (Kbps)

on the datacenter object  for the physical bandwidth

and another metric under Network I/O / Virtual Usage Rate (Kbps) for virtual traffic

in addition i've used a built in view called Datacenter Networking Usage (Kbps) Trend view

are these sufficient  to calculate my network flow in my entire virtual data center?

vROPS Object Not Available - vCenter Message Bus Config Service

Hi All,

Help Please!

We have a issue in our vROPS environment which is diplaying mulitple times for a health alert which indicates a critical alarm of Object not Available for the vCenter / VMare Message bus config service. So far as I know this particular service is manual and it 'normal' running state is not running. it seems to being reported via the vCenter health management pack.

Is anyone else getting this or can offer help please?

My own intentions are to update our policy and omit the object or disable. however surly if the normal running state is not running why would vROPS be alerting?

The only other cause maybe as we are running a pevious version 1.1.228.2112 and not the latest version of the vCenter health MP.

Kind Regards

Peacey

Convert mathematical formula to vROPs super metric ?

$

Hi,

I have a mathematical formula that my customer's SAN admin uses for calculating Avg latency across LUNs in a VNX storage pool. This is shown below:-

LUN       IOPS      Avg_Response

1              10           20

2              100         2

Response time for storage pool = ((10*20) +(100*2))/(10+100) = 3.6

I have to create a super metric in vROPs using this formula. Is this possible? Please help.

policy tags

It would be nice to expose some of the properties/values in the policy - such as buffer for example. However it doesn't look like this is possible - having said that I can see policy tags which might help it setting some of these values then being able to include them in reports using policy tags however I can't find where to assign policy tags... assuming this is talking about vRops policies?
