Does anyone know of a way to alert if an objects ( CDC, Cluster) policy changes.
We have 30 policies applied to different environments and i have seen some object for whatever reason change back to the default policy. Is there away to create an alert that will trigger when a policy changes. All our policies have our company name in them so was thinking of a symptom something like if the policy name does not contain the company name then trigger the alert.
I have created a new Default policy off the base settings, I have edited the policy and disabled every alert and symptom definition there is and i then make it the default policy.
For some reason i have no idea why the objects affected by this policy still trigger an alert. What am i doing wrong
vROPs reports that there are reclaimable CPU, Memory and Disk Capacity in several clusters.
I know that Memory and CPU can be decreased provided that the VM is powered off. With downtime but doable.
The question is, how about the disks? how can it be decreased? Some are production VMs.
The admin wants to execute the recommendations provided by vROPs.

What is the is the relation / diff between Stree and Contention. vROps says I have CPU strees 80% for the hole week while Contention for one day. I am assuming should be realtion between the two mertics But I clould udnerstand this analysis from vROps

I have registered a test vROps environment to the same vCenter server. Seems like it somehow have taken “ownership” of the vCenter.
Have do I re-register the first vROps environment without losing any historical data?
We are running vRealize Operations for Horizon. The VDI desktops are running the View agent with the vRealize option enabled.

We are running vrops 6.6.1.6163035 + horizon extension. All dekstops are running the View agent (v7.3.2) with vRealize enabled and broker agent is running on the Connection server. All stats seem OK.
What i am noticing is a long delay in receiving user session data. Some sessions take over 15min before data is visible in dashboard.
Also, Session Processes + Application Launch history tabs stay empty.

We had a script to push non-vSphere data to VROPS. It was using HTTP post method before.
Here is how the graph used to look like when we check metrics
But then we changed our scripts to use REST API calls instead of HTTP post.
Below is a sample JSON to post data.

I have an "problem".
Because of various reasons i want to exclude some Datacenters and their underlying objects (Clusters, Hosts, Datastores, Networks & Virtual Machines) from the vROM licensing. I've made a (dynamic) 'Custom Group'to include all of these. If i add this as an 'Objects to exclude' under 'Edit License Group' it will not act as an dynamic group out of a licensing perspective as the objects become static in the 'License Group' exclusion. As we have objects that can move from an state where monitoring is not desired (stage & deployment, development & test, remote offices etc.) by the organisation to a state where it is desired this becomes a manual nightmare ... is there any way to accomplish this inside vROM or should i reside to scripting solutions to update the 'License Group' on fixed intervalls?

I'm trying to finish off a vROps greenfields install, I'm having issues associating the vSphere World Group with my default policy. The old environment has it configured. I've been effortlessly trying to find out why for some time with no luck. I've attached old and new environment screenshots. We are running vRops 6.6 and we have a problem with calculation of vCPU's within some specific clusters. Everything was working fine until we saw this:
If I look at the time the problem occur, it's exactly the time vRops is running it's calculation. It's from a Sunday which is not a working day and therefore there has been no changes to the environment - no extra host and if any a very limited number of VM's added. I assume that the number specified in CPU|Allocation|Recommended size (vCPUs) is the total number of vCPUs allocated to the VM's within that cluster ??
We have several clusters and this only occurs on clusters which are in a one custom group there is no problems with the other custom groups. I have seen similar problems in this community and they were not answered but mentioned that this could be because of policy configuration. We have configured policy only for allocation and not for demand.
The problem here is that overnight the value almost doubled and the report to management is all red due to missing vCPUs and I'm not able to give any good reason for this.
Any ideas would be highly appreciated :-)

Hi how can I alert on servers in a custom groups. I see the alert I want to use but I am not seeing how it can be filtered for a custom group of servers or limit the alert to specific type of server

I would like to create an alert for Virtual Machine Guest File Systems to alert when specific drive letters reach 95% utilization.
My use case is: We have a number of SQL servers, we place the Temp DB and Windows Paging File on separate drives. Since these are static drive with no new data creation we create the drive to be only 1G larger than the amount of data. If Temp DB is going to be 20G we create a 21 GB drive. This causes vROPS to alert that a drive is Critical at 95% utilization. We want vROPS to alert when other drive such as C, D and M reach 95% but not the Temp DB and Windows Paging file.
How can I do this, any help would be greatly appreciated.
