Deploying end point agents..

Hi,

 

Attempting to deploy end point agents on a linux VM, keep getting this, any ideas? 

 

 

[root@vcodbxs03q bin]# ./ep-agent.sh start

Starting End Point Operations Management Agent...... running (6369).

- No token file found, Waiting for the agent to initialize

vROPS CASA api implentation gives CasaException and 500 Internal Server Error

Hi,

 

I ran the rest API of vROPS in rest client which is a CaSA API to configure slice name in vROPS

 

I got the 500 Internal Error with the error message as follows:

{"error_message_key":"general.failure","error_arguments":["com.vmware.vcops.casa.exception.CasaException: Update slice info failed"]}

Any help to solve this error is appreciated

vRealize Operations for Horizon broker agent getting crashed

Dear Team,

 

We have reinstalled the vROPS in our VDI environment with same name and same IP.

 

VROPS version 6.2

 

Now i am trying to reinstall the vRealize Operations for Horizon broker agent on our Connection broker server and after installation where it asks for pairing , it is showing as already paired with vROPS server and when we try to pair it again, it is getting crashed.

 

We have tried uninstalling and deleting the vrops agent folder and than installing again. It still fails to pair and gets crashed.

 

Need urgent help in this.

vROPS 6.2 VM Availability monitoring

Just poking around vROPS 6.2 and it doesn't seems VM availability alert exist without an add-on like Hyperic. Is there a way to trigger an alert when a VM goes down for a certain period of time (say more than 5 mins) just through vSphere adapter? I am more interested in abstracting this information at hypervisor level rather VMware tools level, this way even the VMs without the VMware tools can be identified if it goes down or reboots for some reason.

vROPS 6 backup best practices, is live incremental backup possible?

We have a four node cluster, a master node and three data nodes, and we're looking at options to back it up. The only way I'm currently confident to back it up is to turn off the cluster, power off all the nodes, and stash a copy of the vmdks somewhere. Is it possible to take a backup without turning off the cluster? Does anyone have a solution that is taking incremental backups while the cluster is live?

Epops agent guest mounted NFS

Been testing out the Epops agent in 6.3.  Is there a way for it to provide metrics on guest mounted NFS?  Capacity, read/write latency, etc.  I see the local disks but
nothing guest mounted?

Get a count of the number of 8vcpu Vms in a cluster

I am looking to simply have a column on an object widget that will show how many VMs in the cluster have 8vcpu but i cant seem to work out the SM for it. Can anyone help.

 

I am not after a pie chart or anything just a simple column to add to an existing object widget that is focused on cluster compute resource

Trouble loading Views with Trends

I'm trying to provide a view for a support team of all of their VMs CPU usage for the last 30 days, after configuring a new view it just sits at Loading.

 

Initially I though that this was caused by the amount of data so I tried to look at Virtual Machine CPU Diagnose view for a single VM, this also sits at the loading page and never completes?

 

Any ideas? Does this affect anybody else?

Confused on how symptoms are triggered

Hello,

 

I'm fairly new to Vrealize as my job requires me to learn and implement changes to the existing environment that is quite messy as of now.

 

My current predicament involves trying to figure out why certain VMs are triggering symptoms yet some are not triggering the same symptom definitions that have similar trending demands and usages.

For example, a server VM has a policy that is supposed to trigger when CPU demand is over 70% over a 240min peak while a different server under the same policy does not trigger when the CPU demand is meeting the criteria for that alert.

I'm hoping to find out what is triggering the alerts and not triggering the alerts for the other VM.

 

I attached screenshots to help but I can provide more to help provide a clearer view.

Problem with custom group

Hi,

For a custom dashboard, I need to keep track of the number of VMs in a custom group.

But I can not find Metric summary | total_number_vms for my custom group.

I thought creating a supermetric, but I did not succeed to the good result.


Someone already did it do that?

vROPs report Cluster Utilization

Like to understand how to get a report to show this in a table format....

We have 6 VCs total

 

VC name

Object is not available - False Positive or Too Sensitive?

Hi Guys,


I've created a number of Monitor Scripts each with a 5 minute collection interval that essentially run a "ps | grep" within the target (Linux) OS to return a value of 0 or 1 depending on if a particular process is running.

 

This works ok 99.9% of the time, and I can observe availability metrics for this object, fail the process and see the valid alert etc.

 

However, I am seeing a small number of Alerts being generated every few days of type Object is not available that is then cancelled usually within <1 minute, and I don't see any other symptoms (VM and OS appear idle, EPOPS adapter is still showing 100% Resource Availability) etc.

 

Any ideas?

Anyone ran through Operationalize SDDC program By Iwan

I ran through Operationalize SDDC program in our lab to see what the dashboards look like and only about 50% of the dashboards work. The views that dont work say they dont exist. I was able to get a list of all the views and there ID and checked them against the dashboards json file and the view Ids in the dashboards dont seem to match

 

Has anyone else seen this?

vROPS 6.1.0 - alerts - object is not available for vCenter License Performance Charts Common Logging vAPI Endpoint service

Hello.

 

vROPS Version 6.1.0 Build 3038036

vCenter 6.0 build 3339084

 

I found similiar posts related with my issue but for now without response:

Every day we see many alerts related with:

 

Object is not available

 

for services:

 

VMware vCenter License Service

VMware Performance Charts Service

VMware Common Logging Service

VMware vAPI Endpoint Service

 

 

Service VMware Server Health Service i set to MaintenaceMode and alert is not generate ( but this is not solution )

In vSphere Web Client i see all services with good state , only one have warning:

I dont understand what is happening... but maybe this can be related somehow...

and during reboot vCenter always ask me about IP adress to vROPS and user:

vROPS Alerts not clearing

We are using vROPs version 6.3 - upgraded from 5.8 to 6.2 and then onto 6.3.

 

We have a lot of alerts - over 32k... is it possible to easily clear all alerts in the environment?

 

It appears that the cancel cycle is not working properly. We have a lot of alerts for, say, network redundancy lost due to some work that was carried out a few days ago. The alerts are still in there, even though looking at the alert definition, they should have cancelled.

 

I see this KB: but I'm not sure it applies here as we are on a later version of vRPOs.

 

After cancelling the selected alerts in VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.0.x, one or more of the selected alerts rem…

vROPs dont alert on certain objects

we have a HP VSAN and in our vROPs it is alerting that we are running out on space on the datastores that are for the VSAN we know that these are going to be 100% and will always be 100% so how do I tell vROPs not to alert on these?

Limit Users Concurrent connections on virtual center 6.0

Is there way to limit a single user connection meaning User A cant log in twice using his VI client. I have not found anything on VC 6.0 so I expect it doesnt exist? Kindly let me know if anyone has any input
