vRealize Operations Manager Licensing Exclusions
I am running vROps 6.2. I have set up a custom group called "vROps Exclusion" that contains some virtual machines that I do not want to include in my vROps licensing.
I went into the Licensing section of vROps and set the "Product Licensing" group to exclude the group that I created but it does not seem to work.
Are you not able to specify a group of objects from the "always exclude" section of the licensing group? Surely you don't have to select the objects one by one....
Can anyone help with this?

Unable to add SDK to eclipse - Could not find jar:file:c:/Users/.../VMware-vRealizeOperations-SDK.zip!/
Hi,
I'm trying to add vROPs SDK to eclipse with Help -> install new software -> add but getting the following error message:
Could not find jar:file:c:/Users/.../VMware-
I get it when trying the archive option and also when unzip the sdk and choose the root sdk folder.
I've tried it with eclipse versions: kepler, Luna and Mars.
I've tried it with installing first the "VMware WBIS" plugin and also without installing it.
The probem is probablly not the adding plugin because I can manage to add other plugins.
Any solution will be very helpful because I've run out og ideas.

Is it possible in a vRO view to display custom field data for a VM in a list view?
Hi
Im building a view containing list of snapshots and snapshot sizes, is there a possibility to fetch up any custom Fields from the VMs in this list?
(Annotation Fields, for eksempel Notes for the Virtual machine)
If so through what data Object is this visible?

vROPS: Maximum Monthly Unique User Count
My company is moving users from XenDesktop to View and we are trying to create a charge back model for the Horizon VMs. We have concurrent licensing but need to know a total of how many different people log into the system each day/week/month. I am able to pull reports that show the unique user count per day but not weekly or monthly. vROPS averages the daily count out over a month and does not differentiate between user A who has logged in for 20 days or user B has logged in for 1 day. Is there a table that shows monthly logon activity?

vRealize inquiries
If a component in the vRealize changes color status, an alert can be possibly be created.
1. If the issue is resolved, will the color coding be automatically change?
2. Can vROPs integrate with other monitoring tools: like Solarwinds and NAGIOS?
3. If an alert is created and is resolved, do I have to acknowledge it first before the color status is changed automatically? Concern is they see alerts from the vRealize dashboard that was created 2-3 months ago but is still there in the dashboard

vrops problem after vcenter upgrade
Hi
I had a vcenter 5.5 u3 (with external SSO servers) and vrops 6.2. We recently upgraded the SSO servers to PSC and the the vcenter to 6.0 u2. We have since noticed that 95% of the VMs are not being displayed when using Rest calls.Looking in the UI we see the below please note i cut out the server names.

As you can see not all the VMs are showing the problem but most. What is stranger is that the green next to the blue states that it is collecting and data is being received.
Is there a problem with the original ID as the 6.0 u2 upgraded uninstalls 5.5 vcenter then reinstall 6.0 vcenter and imports the data.

Design conundrum. Single instance or multiple?
I'm planning a vROps deployment to cover 2 physical active/active data center locations. I cant decide between the 2 options below:
1) Single instance at DCA with a collector at DCB
Pro:
This would allow me to build application groups for apps that span the DC's.
Single point for everything.
Con:
If we lose DCA, then we have no monitoring.
2) Separate instances at each DC
Pro's / Con's opposite of above.
Each location has around 2 vCenters each and I need vROps to cover them all. I'm not planning to use the built in HA for reasons listed here and will rely on on vSphere HA and backup instead.
Is there anything i am missing here? are these really my only options?

Cassandra on vROps 6.2 failing
HI,
We've had an issue with vROps 6.2 where the cassandra service keeps going down on some of the nodes in the cluster.
We have vROps deployed as medium sized appliances with 1xMaster, 1xReplica, 2xData nodes and 2xRCs
in the wrapper.log for cassandra we see the following.

But that doesn't seem to help.

I did not interpret it . what is mean that ? These machines are open 1 years.is Servers consume this resource or these server not consume this resource or users do not use this server.

idle VMs
Does anyone know how to define what vrops classes ad idle. In 5.8 it was easy to work out as it was displayed in the report and was changed in the policy. I cant find it in 6.2.

Modify Policy to Not Include Powered Off VMs
Hello all, we're running a cluster that has powered off VMs for a PaaS related purpose and we don't want them impacting the analysis as waste. If anyone has any tips on what part of the policy to disable or modify to remove them as a factor please let me know. Thanks!

Cancelled alerts ONLY
I'm trying to find out why getting cancelled alerts ONLY as suppose to active alerts sent to my email. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Any clues??

Disable an alert only for one object type
Hi All,
I have been struggling with the alert "Notification Event", it's an alert of all adapters type that we can't edit or clone. I want to stop getting it for some object types and enable it for the rest. Do you have any idea how is that possible please ?

Collector is collecting metrics only for 2743 out of 4063 objects.
I have three nodes vROPs cluster with version standard 6.2.2.3774215. Two virtual center adapter are configured with 2000 virtual machines license.
License Usage is 1076 number of virtual Machine only. But it is showing that collecting metrics of 2743 objects out of 4063.
Can anybody help to collect metrics for remaining objects as well.

Object is not available - False Positive or Too Sensitive?
Hi Guys,
I've created a number of Monitor Scripts each with a 5 minute collection interval that essentially run a "ps | grep" within the target (Linux) OS to return a value of 0 or 1 depending on if a particular process is running.
This works ok 99.9% of the time, and I can observe availability metrics for this object, fail the process and see the valid alert etc.
However, I am seeing a small number of Alerts being generated every few days of type Object is not available that is then cancelled usually within <1 minute, and I don't see any other symptoms (VM and OS appear idle, EPOPS adapter is still showing 100% Resource Availability) etc.
Any ideas?
